Where were you born and what states (countries) have you lived in?
I was born in Wallace, Idaho and have lived in ID, MT, and WA. Which makes me a redneck, bluecollar hillbilly who's slightly leaded from growing up in a mining town. Explains all them speeding tickets in my younger days , eh?

I was born in Lincoln, Nebraska and have lived in PA, MO and now FL. Not sure what that makes me though, other than mixed up! *g*

I was born in Adelaide, South Australia, and have lived there for most of my life, with three years in Canberra, ACT and 10 months in Bangor, Wales and 2 months touring Europe. I just love Adelaide, and wouldn't choose to live anywhere else.

I didn't know you lived in Adelaide Astrokath - what area? As for me, I was born in Perth, West Australia and lived there for 10 years, then lived in Adelaide for 14 years, London for a year, Sheffield UK for 4 years, Adelaide again for 2 years, and then Melbourne, Australia for nearly 3 years! My mum keeps on talking about coming here to live, but if that happens then I will be moving on, probably east - watch out New Zealand!! LOL!!!

I am in Pascoe Vale!! I know what you mean about the rain. I was on holidays in Tassie last week, and went expecting rain and cold, but had great weather the whole time we were away (except for one day)! What did we get when we got back...rain, grey skies, rain, rain....although it was okay yesterday!!

Kath I lived in Para Hills until I went OS, and then Salisbury East when I came back. My mum still lives in Para Hills so when I come over I always stay there.

I spent the first 27 years of my life in WV...and I too was a coal-miner's daughter(actually my dad got out of it at an early age, but my grandfather owned several mines). Have lived in Virginia for 4 years, now. Don't care really to move too much farther from home than I am. I love this region, the Virginias and Carolinas.

Okay, MelvaT, you asked...I might give Mel a run for her money, but we'll see. I am a Navy brat, born at Quonset Naval Air Station in Rhode Island; moved to Hawaii (before it was a state); then to Napa, Calif.; San Diego (where my parents bought a house), Bremerhaven, Germany for 3 years (that was great!); Edgewater, Maryland; San Diego when my dad retired; out of high school, I moved to Boston, living in Kenmore Square and then Auburndale on the Charles River; back to San Diego; back to Auburndale; marrit DH1 and moved to Severn, Maryland (he was in the Army and stationed at Ft. Meade); to Cincinnati, Ohio when he got out; back to San Diego....and I'm on my way to Spokane, Washington, next Tuesday after 27 years in San Diego. MelvaT is taking in this homeless wench for a bit...so I think Mel has me beat...I only count 13 but some of them were repeats...

Air Force Brat here with an English Mum~! Born in Blytheville, Ark; 5 years in South Bend Ind, 2 in Frankfurt Germany, 1 in England, 8 in various towns of Ohio, 1 more in England, 2 in Jax Fl, 2 in Georgia for college, 1 in Orlando (worked at Disney!) back to Jax and now in St. Aug! How many is that? Oh, and we spent almost every summer in Maidstone Kent England with my mum's family while we were growing up! Always thought I'd move there when an adult but didn't in the end >>>>> When I returned at 18, the job situation there was horrible. One friend in North Humberland was one of 100 applicants for a postal job. He got it cuz he lived two doors from the post office! All the lasses I went to school with were married (at 18) and most were stepmums to an older man's little un's. The boys were either going in the army (old bf was in the Royal Engineers) or bagging groceries or on the dole! Hated to make the decision but at the time, it was the best one for my future. But, my hea

We were young, no kids, no dogs, no family around, theres just not a lot to do there. Waaaaaay too much snow for me! Im a midwesterner at heart.....I doubt I could live anywhere else. Coming from Chicago it was a bit rural for me. Its really beautiful there, especially at leaf peeping season! *G*

I've always loved Burlington. My first time visiting was in 1982. In 1994 when we moved to Colchester, there were plenty of places to shop--but we left right as Williston was invaded with a Big Boxes. I must be weird, but I always thought there was plenty to do--as college student and as a "grown-up" with a kid...

if you meet a REALLY cute four year old, it's my Nephew, Cameron! He and his Mom are on their way from my coast to yours to live! *sniff* I miss him already!!!!! Cute Cameron story inside....>>>>>>> We had a farewell dinner, complete with Cake and presents on Tuesday evening. It was a full night and very emotional for Cameron. I drove him back to his Mom's place. He's in the back of my car chattering away and reconfirming everying. "Auntie, My Dad's going to phone me right?" Right Cameron. "And, we're going to see him on the computer, right?" I say, yes, on the web cam at Auntie Hedy and Uncle Leo's place. "Oh, so, I'll see my Dad on the CAM web?" TOO CUTE! and that's what it will be called from that day forward - the "Cam Web". One day he'll figure out why I was laughing so hard... Funny Kid!

Hi Betsy! We were there 1993-1995, then off to Japan from there. Disassociated Ship Duty!! My DH is a pilot. AAAAKKK!! He just brought home info about possible Iraq duty next year and before that an 8 wk. course in Fort Rucker, AL!!! Feel like a "deployment virgin" after all our years in military. Typical. *SIGH*
-- TraceyH, Sat, October 02 2004, 14:15:13

Oh Tracy so sorry to hear about DH assignments...my DH is still current in Army Reserves and is about 8 months shy of 20 year mark....he is fearful that Iraq could be in his future as there seems to be a shortage of Ordinance Officers right now. We were at NPS from late 1989 though 1991 then moved to the Military Academy at West Point. We are in the process of moving for DH civilian job to DC area now. I loved living in Monterey though-beautiful area!

Thanks for the thoughts. I know it ain't a done deal until I wave goodbye, so I'm not going to borrow trouble. Our DHs have a lot in common...after 15 yr. active duty Navy, DH went into National Guard (Helicopters) unit here in VT. He is also just shy of 20 yrs mark but will not leave the guard, even if it means deploying. He just couldn't face himself if he did that. So, we'll roll with our punches and live life to the fullest, aye?
-- TraceyH, Sun, October 03 2004, 11:51:52

Aye we DO have a lot in common! Mine isna gettin out either. Keep me posted on his assignments - we can commisserate together! included my email inside>>

My list sounds similar...Born in Stockton, CA then family moved to Prairie Grove, Arkansas where I lived for 21 years except summers in Dallas, TX during college and during school year in Fayetterville, AR (Go Hogs!) Once married we moved to Jacksonville briefly then to Brunswick, Maine; Monterey, CA; Virginia Beach, VA; Jacksonville, FL; back to Maine, then Memphis, TN; and now Pensacola. We'll be headed for Norfolk, VA again in July (living in Chesapeake). That makes me a...Navy Wife!

I've noticed a lot of people still have their windows boarded up too...guess that put em up, take em down thing gets a little old after a while. My friend's dh had a brainstorm for Jeanne...he put up tracks outside her mom's windows and sliding glass doors so he could just slide the boards up. The neighbors in the condo saw this and thought it was a great idea....paid him to do the same for their units. He prolly should have tested his invention. I understand that from the amount of plywood that got blown out of the tracks and went zinging around the condo courtyard, it's lucky nobody got decapitated. His MIL is not the most popular resident right now and her SIL (hereby christined Wylie Coyote, Certified Genius) has been issuing refunds and apologies left and right!

I'm a Northwest girl, born and bred. Born in Portland, OR and raised in and around there. College in Eugene (Go Ducks) with a year spent in England. Back to Portland and suburbs for a few years after college, then almost three years on Orcas Island in Washington. Back to Portland suburbs, and that's where I am now! There's something about the green here...it pulls you back. I love it here.

Got married and moved to Ridgefield, Connecticut, soon followed by Darien, Connecticut Moved to Miami, Florida, then moved to Boca Raton, Florida, then moved to Atlanta, Georgia. I've been in my house in Atlanta longer than any place ever in my life!

Oooh, I'm so glad I didn't miss out on this thread. Let's see...born and raised in Los Angeles...from West Hollywood to Van Nuys. Moved to the California Mother Lode in my 30's. Then 2.5 years ago moved to Chicken Dinner Rd. in Caldwell, Idaho. I still miss Angels Camp. California's Gold Rush country is the prettiest place on earth, in my opinion, but it got so crowded in the 20 years I was there and heck...hardly anyone can afford to live in California anymore.

Fun question! I was born and lived in eastern Iowa until I was 7. Then moved to Grand Rapid, MI. Left there when I was 18 to attend college in western Massachusetts. Then lived in southern Maryland, the panhandle of Florida, east coast of Texas, Arkansas, back to southern Maryland, then to coastal New Jersey and (for the last 25 years!) back in tidewater Maryland. (in the early years of our marriage, DH was a Navy pilot, that's why all the moving around!)

Someone above said they were boring. You want boring? I was born and raised in the heart of North Philadelphia, moved to Lansing, MI, in 1963, moved a bit east of there (Okemos) in 1969, moved to Detroit in 1971, then in 1983 moved to one of the Grosse Pointes and since 1992 have been here in Harper Woods...3 blocks northeast of Detroit.

Coming in late here because of being out of town the last four days. I was born in Harrisonburg, VA and lived there 5 years, then my family moved to Charleston, WV. During my first marriage (H was in the Air Force) lived in York, Maine; Pease AFB, N.H.; Clark AB in the Philippines; and Rome, NY. During second marriage lived back in WV, moved to Statesville, NC, Stoney Point, NC, then back to WV again to be near family. Lost most of my WV accent and even though I have lived here for the better part of 15 years, I haven't really gotten it back. I guess with all the moving around I picked up everyone's accent and decided to keep them all! *g*

I was born in Wadsworth OH and lived in Barberton OH until I was 20. Moved to Akron OH while attending college there, where I still live. I have travelled around the world (for weeks or months at a time when I was younger) but have never lived more than 30 miles from where I was born.

Mine is kinda boring compared to some - if you like moving (I don't). I was born in Danville, IN, the same town where my dad was born, in the same county where my grandfather was born...I'm a 5th generation Hoosier. Moved to Muncie long enough to graduate from Ball State, back to Danville, and I've lived in Indianapolis for 7 years now. My roots are deep in Indy and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else - except maybe the wide open spaces of Wyoming...

Wow...Your lives sound very exciting compared to mine at the moment! *vbg* Let me see... I was born and raised here in San Diego in a few houses and haven't left yet! My family did travel a lot to our Montana cabin in the Bitterroot Valley area while I was growing up, but only for weeks at a time. Don't think I would ever leave the west coast, though! Unless some highlander decided to take me away to Scotland!
