The Hall

When he reached the double doors, the dogs panting at our heels, Jamie hesitated. "Should we knock?" I asked, a bit nervous.

He looked at me in astonishment. "It's my home," he said, and pushed the door open.

Book Description
Diana Gabaldon’s brilliant storytelling has captivated millions of readers in her bestselling and award-winning Outlander saga. Now, in her first-ever graphic novel, Gabaldon gives readers a fresh look at the events of the original Outlander: Jamie Fraser’s side of the story, gorgeously rendered by artist Hoang Nguyen.

After too long an absence, Jamie Fraser is coming home to Scotland—but not without great trepidation. Though his beloved godfather, Murtagh, promised Jamie’s late parents he’d watch over their brash son, making good on that vow will be no easy task. There’s already a fat bounty on the young exile’s head, courtesy of Captain Black Jack Randall, the sadistic British officer who’s crossed paths—and swords—with Jamie in the past. And in the court of the mighty MacKenzie clan, Jamie is a pawn in the power struggle between his uncles: aging chieftain Colum, who demands his nephew’s loyalty—or his life—and Dougal, war chieftain of Clan MacKenzie, who’d sooner see Jamie put to the sword than anointed Colum’s heir.

And then there is Claire Randall—mysterious, beautiful, and strong-willed, who appears in Jamie’s life to stir his compassion . . . and arouse his desire.

But even as Jamie’s heart draws him to Claire, Murtagh is certain she’s been sent by the Old Ones, and Captain Randall accuses her of being a spy. Claire clearly has something to hide, though Jamie can’t believe she could pose him any danger. Still, he knows she is torn between two choices—a life with him, and whatever it is that draws her thoughts so often elsewhere.

Step into the captivating, passionate, and suspenseful world of The Exile, and experience the storytelling magic of Diana Gabaldon as never before. (Random House)

But then Jamie's illegitimate son, William, arrives in North Carolina, a young officer in King George's army. Jamie has sworn two things to himself: his son will never know his true paternity - and he himself will never face his son across the barrel of a gun. Between the mountains of North Carolina and those of the Scottish highlands lie blockades and battlefields, storm and shipwreck, privateers and politics. The one thing that sustains the Frasers in their struggle is the hope that their family has reached safety in the future. They have. How did the Ladies of Lallybroch™ begin?

In 1996 I found the Outlander series. Not long after that I found a romance site on the Internet and thought it would be a great place to discuss my love of Diana Gabaldon's books, my love of Jamie, and of Claire - and all things Outlandish.

Unfortunately, some people were jealous of Diana and her books and tried to stop me and other DG book lovers from having fun discussing Jamie and the books. They were negative about the books and DG - we had our Outlander-related messages deleted - it was not fun.

So in July of 1997 seven of us in a totally hosed way (see hoser references) declared our pledge of undying love for one James Alexander Malcolm Mackenzie Fraser and the Ladies of Lallybroch™ was born. I vowed to set up my own web site where LOVERS of the books and Jamie and Claire et al could come - a haven for us where we would not be bothered by naysayers.

You are now here!

If you feel as we do, make yourself at home, participate in the boards, have fun discussing these wonderful books.

Special thanks to Lady Lorri for giving us our name.

My ENORMOUS thanks to...

...the Ladies of Lallybroch, for their boundless goodwill, manifested in the form of food boxes, cards, and enormous quantities of soap, both commercial and handmade ("Jack Randall Lavender" is nice, and I quite like the one called "Breath of Snow." The one called "Lick Jamie All Over" was so sweet one of the dogs ate it, though).
